In addition to being an artist and a writer, Canalos works as a documentary film researcher, and freelance organic gardener and garden designer. Through her creative process, including drawing and mixed media collage, Canalos' work reconstructs accounts of multiethnic individuals and groups in an attempt to bridge the gap between mainstream and more obscure histories.

Deeply influenced by Buddhist thought and Confucianism, Chung usually works in-situ with various media, including drawing, painting, sculpture and installation. By bringing to life the utopia of Chinese culture, Chung attempts to recreate Chinese aesthetics which integrate Taiwanese culture and Chinese tradition.

Using both traditional Japanese as well as modern painting materials, coppi merges the traditionally Japanese with modern style to emphasize the strange occurrences of quotidian life in an overpopulated city like Tokyo. Currently working as a graphic designer, web director and illustrator, coppi's participation in GEISAI Miami marks her first participation in an exhibition.

Gregg Evans

Evans recently published his first book of photographs entitled I Could Walk Away Now And You Wouldn't Care. The book includes photographs taken by Evans over the course of two years, and focuses on collections found in gay men's apartments throughout the New York City area, including banal objects that gather on bookshelves, in kitchen cabinets and dresser drawers.

Nikki Katsikas

Katsikas' work is inspired from magazine clippings, imagination, films, and her life. Katsikas aims to capture moments in time when the subject and its environment are in sync and reflect one another. Influenced by German and American Expressionist painters, she is interested in colors, patterns, shapes and the posture or gestures which define a figure.

During his youth, McNay developed a severe case of obsessive-compulsive disorder which may be considered to be reflected in his current paintings and videos. In his work, spontaneous gesture and considered manipulation clash and commune to create a conversation in binaries, regarding truth and illusion, and gesture and calculation.

Monica Moran

Moran originally created site specific installations, but in 2002, began to reinvestigate painting on stretched canvas, considering the four corners of the canvas to be a site for the creation of her work. She is interested in the elements underlying the idea of the "modern" and the manner in which the historical period of "Modernism" becomes a signifier for what most people consider to be "modern". Moran's paintings attempt to develop a broader discussion about content, notions of image and historical discussions about "modern" art.

Spinella creates a world composed of artificial organisms and hand-crafted nature: sea chandeliers, turf conch shells, and pollinating walls, or machine-nature byproducts such as sunlight circuitry, emotion machines, and factory-generated insects. In considering the meaning of hand-made, machine-made, and nature-made, Spinella bends the boundaries of all three categories to potentially define a single object.

Woolfalk is a New York based artist who uses a craft-based approach to create all-encompassing imaginary spaces. Constructed from household materials (fabrics, sounds, and gestures), the characters and narratives in her work evoke traveler narratives, science fiction and academic anthropology to rework tropes of sexuality, gender, and race.

Mayu Daigen

Silver Prize Winner, GEISAI Museum #2

Having studied the techniques of traditional Japanese painting (Nihonga) in Kyoto, Japan, Daigen's work is particularly influenced by Buddhist paintings. Daigen is also actively involved in the reproduction of old Buddhist paintings and recently joined a project led by Nihonga painter Mutsumasa Hakozaki to recreate the Mandala of the Two Realms for Mount Kōya.

大源は京都にて日本画の古典技法を学び、仏教絵画からインスピレーションを得た作品を多く制作している。仏画の模写制作も積極的に行い、日本画家 箱崎睦昌を筆頭としたプロジェクトに加盟し、高野山に両部曼荼羅を奉納予定。

The majority of Nakamura's works are pencil on paper but she has worked with painting, photography, woodwork, textual art as well as animation. The overarching theme behind her work is the disintegration and reintegration of meaning. She achieves her experimentation by removing various forms or ideas from their original certain contexts.

Keita Sugiura

Sugiura uses his photos as a means of exploring different possibilities. By paring his work down to the utmost simplicity, he aims to give depth to the photo's flat plane. Sugiura left his job shooting advertising photographs in 2005 to focus on his artwork and is currently planning for an upcoming exhibition at the PinchukArtCentre in the Ukraine.
